Corporate charitable giving has increased from 2018 to 2019 by 13.4% to $21.09 billion with the majority of giving coming from Fortune 500 companies. But do you have to be a major conglomerate to operate philanthropically? Reidie MacDonald doesn’t think so. MacDonald is the founder of jewelry startup Short & Suite which incorporated a give-back program immediately upon launching. After leading sales, at top global fashion houses for a decade including Valentino and Brock Collection, she decided to take the best of the luxury world to make affordable and accessible jewelry. “These brands I worked for are the epitome of luxury and I loved every detail about them.

Everything from their materials and fabrications, down to their customer service was top of the line. To meet the current marketplace demand I wanted to take those aspects of the top brands and create a line that was not only luxurious but much more accessible and affordable. I chose jewelry and accessories because I wanted all women to be able to wear a beautifully designed product that invited them  to feel truly special. Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy life’s little luxuries. The inspiration for my jewels comes from my business travels: short trips around the world and living in glamorous hotel suites. Travel brings a wave of joy which is what I want my customers to feel when they throw on their ‘suites’,” MacDonald explained.
